There are so many reasons to build a new home in Northwest Washington. The weather is comfortable, the views are stunning, and the community is welcoming. However, just because you know where you want to live doesn’t mean you have all the answers when it comes to designing a new home. Starting with custom house plans is a great way to get exactly what you want in a home without having to start from scratch. Just pick a layout you like and tweak it to suit your needs.

Here are some of our favorite customizable floor plans for Northwest Washington.

The Mt. Rainier

This elegant home offers plenty of space for your family and guests, with four bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms in 3,217 square feet. Like the peak it’s named after, the Mt. Rainer will stand out on any block and leave a lasting impression. A den, bonus room, loft, mudroom, and garage shop offer diverse options for every family member to enjoy their favorite hobbies. The formal dining room with a walk-through pantry from the kitchen is perfect for entertaining or setting up a weekday homework spot away from the TV. Enjoy casual dining and stay connected to the great room in the kitchen nook or at the island. With the master suite tucked away on the first floor, you can retreat to your own space anytime you like. The two walk-in closets solve all of your storage issues and give couples their own spaces for clothing.

The Cashmere

If you’re looking for plenty of square footage on a single level, the Cashmere is a sprawling ranch with three bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms in 3,120 square feet. This split-bedroom layout separates the master suite from the other bedrooms on the other side of the house. This customizable floor plan is perfect for families who love to cook at home. With a huge walk-in pantry and ample counter space, you’ll have all the room you need for daily cooking and preparing holiday meals, which you can enjoy in the formal dining room. The den makes for the perfect home office, and the bonus room can be used as a playroom, exercise space, or fourth bedroom. A large walk-through utility room from the garage serves as a mudroom and convenient central location for household chores.

The Blakely

If you want four bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms in a smaller footprint that is easier to maintain, the Blakely has it all in 2,256 square feet. This single-level home centers around the kitchen with a corner island that connects it to the open dining area and great room. The mudroom/utility room is easily accessed from both the front entry and the garage, making it a perfect layout for active families. Don’t forget to consider a covered patio off the back of the house to maintain a strong connection to the outdoors all year long. The covered front porch adds charming curb appeal, especially if you opt for the Craftsman exterior with mixed materials and elegant columns.

The Klickitat

If curb appeal is one of your major goals, the Klickitat has it in spades. With a low-profile side-entry garage, the front elevation is dominated by classic gables and cheery windows instead of a large garage door. With three bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms in 2,198 square feet, the Klickitat is the perfect customizable floor plan for a small family. The master suite is separate from the other bedrooms and includes a massive walk-in closet and large bathroom. The other two bedrooms are connected by a Jack and Jill bathroom for ultimate convenience and spatial efficiency. Choose either a formal dining room or a den depending on your lifestyle and needs.

The Gallatin

If you love taking in the sights from the comfort of your front porch, the Gallatin has an optional wraparound porch that you won’t ever want to leave. Combine this with a flexible two-level floor plan that allows dual master suites (with one on the main floor), and you’ll have the perfect place to settle for a lifetime. Configure the upstairs level with three bedrooms and a bonus room if you need play space for the kids. Or go with two bedrooms, a master suite, and a loft if you have an older teen or plan to have another family member eventually move in to make it a multigenerational home.

The Oswego

The Oswego is a classic open-concept ranch with three bedrooms and two bathrooms in 1,952 square feet. The family tinkerer will love having their own shop in the garage, while another person can take over the den. The large great room is perfect for an optional fireplace to stay cozy on cool nights. On warmer evenings, enjoy a meal outside on the covered patio just outside the dining room.
