The Interview

How did you become interested in the homebuilding industry?

I initially became interested in the construction and homebuilding industry because both of my grandfathers were homebuilders and master carpenters. So I grew up around it and participated in their work. I was helping them at the age of 5! As a young person, I also helped with the the addition and build of the home I grew up in.

What inspired you to work for Adair?

The desire to join the Adair team came from the name Adair. Hearing that from my grandfathers! They were very familiar with it. So I was familiar with it. And as for the interview process—I was really able to determine that Adair was a company that had good core values and was actually a company where these weren’t just words on paper. Adair lives their core values.

What is it about Adair that stands apart from the competition?

What I like most about our homebuilding model is our owner-participation; it gives our owners participation in building their own dream. This is what we attribute to our sweat equity portion of the build—but their participation goes way beyond money. Participation is value. And it’s a memory that will last a lifetime. 

I believe in what we are doing. We are getting some folks into their first homes. Some folks into their forever retirement homes. We are building their dreams.

It is an amazing process to see and watch and supervise. 

What is the best part of your job?

Although I have limited interaction with the customers, I do get to see our home owners in the regional branches when they are coming in for design meetings. Just being able to see their faces and their joy, this makes everyday unique.

What Adair Core Value do you hold most dear?

The core value that I hold most dear is delivering a great customer experience. I believe that you can tie all of our six core values into delivering a great customer experience. That is what gives us the legendary name that Adair has had for 52 years in the Pacific Northwest. We certainly owe it to those that have come before us, and those that will come after, to continue that legendary experience.
