Dreams Take Shape
The Morgan Family first encountered Adair Homes in 2016, at an Open House event. After visiting several open houses, they decided to build their dream home with Adair, on their land in White City, OR. Adair set up a time to talk with the Morgans—and the rest is history. Beautiful, one-story farmhouse, history.
What made you decide to build with Adair Homes?
We chose to build our home with Adair because they would allow us to customize our home to our needs while keeping the project within our budget.
What was your personal experience building a home with Adair?
We had a great experience planning our home with Adair. While we liked several of the floor plans Adair had to choose from, none were quite perfect for us considering our budget. I sat down with Johanna and the two of us chose two plans that I really liked; we got out a pair of scissors and some tape and away we went. We cut apart plans and then made our own floor plan. Afterwards, Johanna sent our brainstorming session to engineering for the actual specs and square footage. Then we looked at the exterior design choices, and chose the farmhouse exterior—though we changed some window sizes and added additional windows. This whole process of bringing our new custom home to life was the most fun of the whole journey.
What is your favorite part of your Adair Home?
We have many favorite things about our new home. I love our walk-in closet, and our bedroom is a beautiful haven for us at the end of the day, but our Great Room is amazing. In the mornings it is filled with light—so airy and spacious! The whole home is perfect.
Did you do any DIY projects on the build or take advantage of Adair's "Sweat Equity" program?
We have a couple projects we did after the build was complete that we had always planned to do ourselves. We are currently working on a large outdoor deck off our Great Room.
Building a home is not an easy process, even with the help of the Adair team. What advice do you have for others who are looking to build a home?
My advice to others would be: Go for it! If you are not in love with a plan they currently have, don’t let that stop you. You can make your own! We couldn’t be happier with our custom plan.
If you had the chance to do it again, would you? Why/Why not?
We would absolutely do this all over again. The whole process of watching the home be built and take shape was like watching our dreams come to life. This was an excellent experience that we will cherish forever.
Most Adair customers receive the keys to their new home with "move-in equity", what was your equity position at the time your home was completed?
Our move in equity was about $212,000.
Of all the things you personally did on your Adair Home build, what are you most proud of?
I am most proud of the design of our home. Because Johanna and I started with ideas, tape and scissors, this house is my family’s home in every sense. I am most proud of the floor plan, look and feel of the home. We love our Adair Home!
