If you’re thinking about building your first custom home, the prospect can seem exciting—and, at times, a bit stressful. It’s true that you’ll have a lot of decisions to make in the coming months, but with the right resources, designing your custom home can be a smooth, very enjoyable process.

Like most customers, you’ve probably already started searching for design inspiration online and in magazines. But ideally, you would also get the chance to see home materials, such as tile, countertops, and flooring, in person. This gives you a chance to compare colors and finishes and see how everything works together as you envision your completed home.

The good news is that you don’t have to travel from business to business throughout the Inland Northwest to find the best products and materials for your new home. Luckily, our region hosts several valuable home shows throughout the year, giving you a chance to meet with local contractors, designers, and retailers. Pick one that’s close to you and start finding everything you’ll need to build your custom home.

Fall Home Show – Oct. 6–8. Stop by the TRAC Center in Pasco to get design inspiration for your new custom home. Meet with local suppliers and contractors and view the latest in home design and décor. Your ticket also gets you into free daily seminars to learn more about homebuilding and design. View more information.

Spokane Home Idea Show – Oct. 13–15. Conveniently held at the Spokane Fair and Expo Center, this annual show puts you face to face with some of the best local and regional businesses. See home design and décor products and materials, learn about new trends and technologies, and get inspiration for your custom home. This is also a great chance to learn more about home design and meet with contractors and specialists who can help you through the site development process. Many retailers and service providers will be offering specialty pricing at the show, so get there early. View more information.
