Central Oregon Climate
Because this climate is so dry (even in the snowy wintertime) you’ll want to design your home with forethought.
Take advantage of our professional home team members! From the very beginning of your home search, your Home Ownership Counselor is poised to add value to every decision. They are more than happy to walk lots with you as you explore the area. Every piece of land offers something special to be taken advantage of—a mountain view, a river trail, perhaps a stand of Ponderosa.
You’ll also find a building envelope on each lot—meaning, the space in which you are allowed to build a structure. Understanding these parameters will make a big difference to the end result. Your Home Ownership Counselor can stake out your home plan, so that you’ll be able to visualize views and see whether your driveway and approach is conducive to your driving/parking habits.
Consider the seasons: there will be heat and there will be snow! In the wintertime, South facing driveways will self-clear, but North facing driveways may stay wet and icy for prolonged time periods. During the summer, intense sunshine will also affect how your home siding will weather—so keep that in mind when choosing materials and finishes.
Design Trends
