Find me on:

It’s a new year, and that means lots of predictions about the latest home design trends. But while some are claiming cowhide as the latest thing or that honeycomb shapes are hot, we know the best design trends are ones that simply make your life better.

Each year, we build hundreds of custom homes for families throughout the Pacific Northwest.  Each home is completely unique, designed specifically for the needs of each family. So what are some of the hottest design trends for families just like yours?

Here are just a few:

Multiple Master Suites

Dual master suites are popular among households with multiple generations. This can be one master suite at each end of a ranch-style custom home or, for larger homes, one master suite on the main level and another upstairs or in the finished basement.

Privacy Suites

For families that need additional privacy but don’t want a full second master bedroom, privacy suites offer a smart alternative. A privacy suite is a secondary bedroom with an en suite bath. Almost any secondary bedroom can be converted into a privacy suite that’s ideal for teens, parents, guests, or even a home office.

Second Living Area

You want to read the latest bestseller, but he wants to watch the game. His favorite movie is on, but the kids want to play video games. You’re having your book club over, but your oldest wants to shred on his guitar. Sometimes one living space is simply not enough. Today more home designs include a second living area in a finished basement, loft, or bonus room.

At Adair Homes, you can design a secondary living space that’s a cozy reading nook or room enough for a pool table, a bar, and a dozen or so of your closest friends.

Walk-Ins for Everyone

Remember when a walk-in closet in the master suite felt like an indulgence? Walk-in closets aren’t just for grown ups anymore. Today it’s become a necessity to have a walk-in closet in every bedroom as an essential part of an organized, manageable home. Many of our custom home floor plans include walk-in closets in the secondary bedroom (and if not, you can always add one).

Customizing Room Size

Let’s face it, life doesn’t always fit in a 10 x 10 bedroom. You may love formal dinners during the holidays, but you probably don’t need a large dining room that simply takes up space the rest of the year.  And although that grand gourmet kitchen looks good, if your idea of a culinary achievement is dialing for delivery then it’s probably going to waste.

In 2015, the trend is toward customizing room size based on your lifestyle. Want a smaller kitchen but a huge master bath? We can do that. It’s your home, and it should make sense for you.

Choose Your Location

According to a recent study, 53 million Americans are now doing freelance work. That’s 34% of the entire workforce. As more people are redefining how they work, they are also reimagining their lifestyle. After all, when you don’t have a commute you can work from just about anywhere.

At Adair Homes, you can build your home anywhere you want whether that means 10 minutes from the office or 10 miles from civilization. Our Local Land Search is any easy way to find the building site that’s right for you.

Personalized Design

Now more than ever, homeowners are choosing to design their own home instead of trying to squeeze their family’s lifestyle into a home that simply doesn’t fit. At Adair Homes, we think you deserve a home you’ll love. That’s why we make it easy and affordable to design your home any way you want.
