Find me on:

You’ve celebrated so many major milestones: you’ve graduated from school, moved out on your own, signed your first lease, and you’ve actually purchased your own furniture (even if it was from that big box Scandinavian store across town). Maybe you’ve recently married and you’re preparing for a family. So, what’s missing? A home, of course.

A custom home for new families is not only affordable, it’s just the smart choice. Still not sure that you’re ready? Check out this list of signs that tell you it’s time to consider one of our custom homes for first time buyers.

1. You’re tired of the revolving door of next door neighbors

As a renter, you’ve probably shared your wall with half a dozen neighbors, at least. With each new tenant, the novelty wears even thinner. Maybe they walk heavy on your ceiling, or perhaps their teenager just got a drum set for Christmas! Either way, you’ve reached the point where you are ready for the sanctuary and solitude that comes with home ownership.

2.You're ready for a change of scenery

Are you renting in the city? While the view of the sparkling downtown lights are enchanting, you actually opted for parking lot view to save a little money. Now, you’re tired of looking out of your balcony and seeing cars, trucks, and carports. You’re ready to see the raw beauty of the Pacific Northwest right outside your window.

3. There’s no more loose change in the couch to pay rent

Renting is getting really expensive these days. What makes matter worse is that every year, your landlord raises rates. In some cases, your mortgage can be half that of your monthly rent, that’s worth exploring!

4. Your walk-in closet can’t double as a nursery

You’re expecting, but your rental isn’t. It used to be the perfect size for you, when it was just you. When it became the two of you, it was a little tight but you were on different schedules, so it worked. Now that you’re having a baby, you’re officially feeling the growing pains.

5. You have pink tile in the bathroom

And there’s nothing you can do about. It seems like the rentals with the ugliest wallpaper, the wackiest tile, and the most unpleasant paint colors forbid you from doing anything about it. And why would you want to invest into something that isn’t yours anyways? Here’s something you can do: move.

6. You want a furry friend

Your landlord is allergic to cats or had a traumatic childhood experience with a dog and now has banned anything on all fours. Don’t let the apartment get between you and your fuzzy friends, build a home for you and Fido!

7. You’re ready to graduate to adult furniture

Now that you’ve graduated, why does it still look like you live in a dorm? Perhaps you’re waiting until you move into your home to invest in real furniture. Psst… now is the time to move.
